Announcement from PRSA National to all Members:
As you know, we have been conducting a search to find the next leader of PRSA, someone who will help usher us through our next era of growth. We are excited to announce today that Linda Thomas Brooks has been named as PRSA’s new Chief Executive Officer. She will begin her new role on January 19.
Linda comes to PRSA with extensive experience in corporate, startup and membership organizations, and wide-ranging expertise in business development, media and marketing, strategic alignment and social responsibility, among other essential and applicable skills.
She most recently was a consultant working with media, marketing and trade organizations on systemic change, structural alignment and member services. Her roles include being Interim Managing Director, Media and Publishing Divisions of SIIA, the Software & Information Industry Association, and a Corporate Fellow at GOOD/Upworthy.
Prior to that, Linda was President & CEO of the Association of Magazine Media. During her tenure, she delivered high-multiple ROI to all members, created data-driven insights for advertisers and prompted increased ad spending to member companies. Additionally, she and her team developed industry branding campaigns which exceeded business goals and won numerous industry awards.
Linda also was EVP, Managing Director at General Motors Media Works and President, Ingenuity Media at The Martin Agency. She has also worked with innovative technology companies such as Trilogy and Gear Digital, an omni-channel, full-service agency which she co-founded and served as President.
Throughout her career, Linda has been recognized for her many achievements, including being named an Ad Age Women to Watch and she was honored as one of Folio’s Top 100 Executives. She has also been presented an AWNY Impact Award for Mentoring and was inducted into the AAF Advertising Hall of Achievement.
Linda brings a vision for change and innovation, enthusiasm and energy to everything she does, and we are thrilled to be welcoming her to PRSA.
Linda succeeds Philip T. Bonaventura, who has served as interim CEO since July 2019. We are greatly indebted to him for the exceptional job he has done through exceedingly difficult circumstances, and are truly grateful for his expertise, leadership and grace under pressure. Phil will resume his full-time role as Chief Financial Officer, and we look forward to continuing to work with him.
We also must give tremendous thanks to the CEO Search Committee and the 2020 Board of Directors for their thoughtful and diligent work. Their constant consideration of the needs of our staff, members and volunteer leaders was critical to the success of this process.
Please join us in welcoming Linda to PRSA. You will be hearing more from her in the weeks to come.
